December 12, 2007

Hey everyone! Welcome to the blog-portion of my web site! Here, you'll hear random updates about the things that are happening in my life. I'm going to try not to post too much personal stuff here, just because "the Internets" are a dangerous place. Things are going okay right now, but they're looking to get better really soon (if you really know me, I am ever the optimist!). I'm going to be meeting with a counselor from the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission, who I hope will be able to aide me in finding a job in a public library. If she can't help me directly, then I'm hoping she can refer me to a head-hunter who can. I'm still working close-to-full-time at RadioShack, but honestly, that doesn't even come close to paying the bills. There's no career for me there, so I'm hoping to actually get some mileage out of that MLS I busted my butt to get in grad school. Best advice I can give you, so you don't make the same mistakes I made is to take some time off between college and grad school and volunteer or get a job in the field you studied in school. Experience is HUGE, and, at least in the library field, valued just as much if not more than a graduate degree.

Some Resolutions for 2008:

I WILL find a better paying, more enjoyable job.

I WILL get back in touch with the people I've neglected to give the time-of-day to this year (that's you)!

I WILL take at least an hour a day to do some creative, non-blog writing.

I WILL continue to participate in projects and events that benefit my community, because I may never solve world poverty, but good works should always be a priority.

I WILL surround myself with people I care about, who care about me.

I WILL give 110% to everything I do, even if it leaves me exhausted at the end of the day.

I WILL make a concerted effort to be the wide-eyed optimist that I've been up to this point in my life.

I WILL get ahead this year, but not at anyone else's expense.

I WILL expect good things to happen to me, but will also realize that, for good things to happen to me, I need to do good things for others.

Well, that's all for this post, but come back every so often, and see what good things are happening in my life!

The Mitchell Report (investigating steroid abuse in Major League Baseball) was made public today at 2:00PM, EST. Having mulled over it's contents, I've created a list of all of the Boston Red Sox players named, including Minor Leaguers, Former and Current players. The list is as follows:

List of Current and Former Boston Red Sox Players Named in The Mitchell Report:

Name (Position) Minor L., Former or Current (2007)
Red Sox at Time of Alleged Steroid
Abuse

Manny Alexander (IF) Former

Josias Manzanillo (P) Former

Roger Clemens (P) Former

Mo Vaughn (IF/DH) Former

Chris Donnels (IF) Former

Mike Lansing (IF) Former

Kent Mercker (P) Former

Mike Stanton () Former

Eric Gagne` (P) Former

Brendan Donnelly (P) Former

Steve Woodard (P) Former

Jeremy Giambi (IF) Former

The most surprising names that were included in the Mitchell Report were Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite, and not-surprisingly at all, Jason Giambi. I feel as though Syphax, a person commenting on those three names at Curt Schilling's Blog, put it best:

"Hey Yankees, the 2003 Red Sox called, they want a do-over.

2003 highlights:

Clemens: 17*-9 (WP*, Game 3 ALCS, ND, Game 7 ALCS)
Pettite: 21*-8 (WP*, Game 2 ALCS, LP, Game 6 ALCS)
Giambi: 41* HR, 107* RBI (2* HR, Game 7 ALCS)

Karma’s a bitch, I suppose."
